Garbage Pail Kids Friday Nightmare On 13th Street

Over the past couple of months Topps’ has had some online exclusive GPK cards. Most have been political and I wasn’t interested in them but in between the run up to the election they have released some based on television, music and movies and that’s where my attention lies.

 

Shortly before Halloween they released a horror movie inspired exclusive set and two caught my attention, cards based on Friday The 13^th and Nightmare on Elm Street. I put in my order and waited, turns out there had been an error somewhere in the system and I was charged but my order wasn’t actually ordered. In between getting ready for my move I contacted Topps’ customer service and I was worried they would just refund my money, which I was not too keen on because each set was selling on the secondary market in the $15-20 range and I spent $20 on both sets through Topps’ website. The customer service department ended up taking care of me and got my cards sent out so I appreciate that greatly.

Floating Heads For Everyone!

Something that caught my attention is the just released Topp’s online exclusive 1967 Test Sticker wall art, which is surprising because I have never been a fan of the floating head cards. There are 20 players on the checklist, each card is 11”x17”, will be #/99 and they cost $49.99 each. They will also be printed on Heritage-style stock, which is pretty cool. They are only available for a couple of days, through March 31st.

If you purchase all 20 cards, which costs $900, you will receive the cards in an oversized wax pack (pretty cool) plus you will get a “Patriotic” parallel that will be #/10 each. There are five players in the parallel set; Bench, Jackson, Schmidt, Seaver and Ryan.

 

I think the reason that I am drawn to these, as compared to the floating head cards, is that these are wall art so they would make a nice display in the man cave plus they are significantly cheaper than the cards. Though being the tightwad that I am, as much as I would love the Reggie Jackson card, I have no plan on spending $50 for an oversized box topper.
