Today is Willie Mays’
birthday, he is 84 years old. What is strange is that even at 84 he isn’t even
in the Top 100 oldest living MLB player but that does not make him any less
special. Mays is possibly one of the best players to have ever played the game
playing nearly his entire career with the NY/SF Giants. During his career he
was a 24 time All-Star, 2 time MVP, NL ROY, 12 time Gold Glove winner, 4 time
Home Run leader and won a World Series title.
When he was selected in
to the Hall of Fame in 1979 his 660-home runs was #3 on the list behind Hank
Aaron and Babe Ruth, a record that seemed nearly impossible to pass if it weren’t
for PEDs.
The man is a living
legend and today we wish him an amazing birthday to the Say Hey Kid.
