Today
the world lost an amazing comedian with the passing of Harold Ramis. Children
of the 1970s and 1980s grew up watching his work, both as actor and behind the
scenes. Some of his best work includes script writer for Animal House,
Caddyshack, Stripes, Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day. His directing credits
include Caddyshack, Vacation, Groundhog Day and a number of episodes of The
Office. As an actor he appeared in SCTV, Stripes, Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters
II as well as a number of cameos like Vacation, Airheads, Groundhog Day, Knocked Up and
Year One.
Four
years ago he was diagnosed with autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis, which is an
inflammation of the blood vessels and can eventually lead to organ failure,
which is the case with Ramis.
On
the collecting front Harold Ramis has not appeared on cardboard besides the
late 1980s release of Topps Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II, though Topps has
re-released some of the Ghostbusters card as foil editions with the recent 75th
Anniversary release. He does not have any official autographs or relic cards.
His
humor will be missed.
