Upper
Deck sure knows how to make an announcement for an upcoming release based on the well-loved
indie film Clerks. Tomorrow at the SDCC Upper Deck will have Brian O’Halloran, Jason
Mewes and Kevin Smith signing at their booth in conjunction with the
announcement that next year they will be releasing a Clerks based card set
through the Skybox line just in time for the release of Clerks III.
If
you think about it, when Clerks was released in 1994 it was the beginning of what
would become the Great Fat Man Empire. Kevin
Smith has brought amazing joy to this world through his creations like Clerks,
Mallrats, Dogma, Zack and Miri Make A Porno, various Jay and Silent Bob
incarnations and Comic Book Men.
Clerks
may not stand up in comparison to today’s blockbuster movies but it is still
one of my favorite '90s movies. Most people do not realize that there was
actually an alternate ending where Dante is shot and killed during a robbery at
the end of the film though once Clerks II was released in 2006 it kind of made
that ending void so it is no longer shown.
I would love to get my hands on that promo card. I didn't hear about this, but this sounds great. My only wish though is depending on the size of the set, is if they included cards for all the View Askewniverse.
ReplyDeleteI still have the collector's set from Clerks 2 including the visor, nametag and collector's cup inside the value meal box.
Huge fan of Clerks. I'm pretty sure this was the movie (along with Reservoir Dogs) that kicked off my "independent" film craze. I sort of got addicted to them after watch them.
