This month’s VCoM comes from the 1935 Diamond Stars
baseball release from National Chicle. Cliff Bolton played 24 seasons but only
7 in the Majors with 6 seasons with the Washington Senators and one with the
Detroit Tigers. Over his 7 seasons in the big leagues he played 335 games with
a very respectable .291 batting avg., 280 hits and 143 RBIs.
The cards is greatly distressed with creases and discoloring and to add to it someone decided to add in his stat line from his 1937 season in Detroit, but that kind of adds something to the card.
The 1935 Diamond Stars set is an appealing set with
bright colorful illustrations plus the set includes some big names like Babe
Ruth, in his final season, Tony Lazzeri, Left Grove, Rogers Hornsby and Mel
Ott.
Never heard of the guy... but that's one sweet looking card. If "vintage baseball card" was in Webster's... this is the card they'd use as an example.
