Will Retail Buyers Buy In?

Within the week Panini will be releasing a retail version of 2013-14 Titanium Basketball. Each $20 pack will contain two Titanium Rookie memorabilia cards, two base cards and a numbered star or rookie card.

The Rookie memorabilia cards will contain 5 different photo variations with the 5th card of each rookie being a short print. The cards are each numbered differently so you will know which one is the 5th card. I do not know if these cards will be numbered differently from the hobby versions.

The question today is:
Is $20 too much for a retail pack containing 5 cards (even though 2 are relics)?

  1. I am not planning on buying any. not really because of price. but of players. In basketball, I only collect Michigan State players. outside of a base Zach Randolph, it isnt worth it. For next year's set with Adreian Payne and likely Gary Harris, I would consider buying.

  2. I saw one of these at the store today. I picked it up to look at it, but I didn't buy it. Too little reward potential for the price, in my mind.

  3. I saw that first pic and was like "Tim Hardaway is a rookie again?! wha?!" but no, it's his kid apparently. that's crazy.

  4. You didn't mention any of the cards being serial numbered. If there were some legends thrown in it might be worth the money but not for rookies. Too speculative for me.
