Thank You For Your Entries, The Contest Is Now Closed

The list is compiled and I will be randomizing the list shortly and posting tomorrow night. In all there are 32 people who joined the contest with five of them getting two entries. I will announce the winners tomorrow and post a screenshot of each randomization.

Here are the rules that pertain to this portion of the contest:
  • There will be 7 prizes

  • The list will be randomized for each prize with the first person on the list after each time I run the randomizer being the winner for that specific prize. So first time I randomize, that person is the first winner, the first person on the second time I randomize is the second winner and so on.

  • If a person that has already been selected as a winner comes up again I will run the randomizer again to determine the next winner. This way no one person can win more than one prize.

  • The prizes will be made up of 1997 Screen Play tins with cards, a Jerry “The King” Lawler autograph (which also includes two 2015 Leaf National Wrapper Redemption Acetate cards) and a stack of 50 Ken Griffey Jr cards (which may increase as I go through my collection).

  • I will be breaking down the prizes over the next few days so people can see what each of the prizes contains.

  • Once the contest closes I will take Thursday 7/14 to organize the list so I can run it through the randomizer and will run the lists on Friday 7/15 and announce the winners that night or on 7/16.

  • At this point I am planning on letting the first winner select their prize, then the second winner, third winner and so on.

Again I want to thank everyone who reads my blog, I enjoy writing and I am so appreciative that people take the time to read my thoughts on the hobby.

My "Lend Me Your Ear" Collection

I went to a private art school fir my degree so I spent a lot of class time studying the masters. I learned to appreciate various styles and artists but I have always had an affinity for Vincent van Gogh. I studied his life, his style and his choices and while I am not a huge fan of Post-Impressionism, I love Futurism, I do enjoy his paintings. Three of my Top 5 paintings are van Gogh’s work.

Because I am a huge fan of his paintings I like to see him included on checklists over the last decade, mainly Topps and Upper Deck. I have done my best to build a mini pc of his cards and would love to someday pick up one of the Goodwin Champions Art of the Ages painted cards with one of van Gogh’s paintings.

Currently I have 10 van Gogh cards in my collection and these were released between 2008 and 2014. I have my eye on some of his very unique cards so I will continue to add to this collection.

The First Group Of Prizes

Earlier this year I ordered 5 sealed 1997 Topps Screen Play tins in hopes of pulling one of the two Griffey tins and cards from the set but I had no luck, I ended up purchasing the two Griffey cards afterwards, but I set the tins aside to be included in my blog-versary contest. I did post about one of the tins that I did open and review but the other four remained unnamed, now it is time to announce which players were in the other four tins.

The one tin that I did open and take a look at was Mark McGwire, the foam inside was deteriorating so I removed it and to see what the card looks like I took the protective film cover off of it. The remaining four tins are all still complete, a couple have some slight dents, with foam and the cards still are covered with the protective film.

Here they are; Juan Gonzalez, Sammy Sosa, Paul Molitor and Andrew Jones.

Time For My 7th Blog-versary Contest!

One month ago was my 7th Blog-versary but with an impending move I decided to delay the celebration until July 6th. I have completed my move, I am unpacked and my collection has been organized (sort of) and I have begun shipping packages for trades. Now that things have begun to normalize it is time for a contest.

For my 7th Blog-versary I will be offering up 7 prizes and all you have to do for a chance to win in post here, nothing else is required.

Now for the fine print:

  • You can enter the contest by posting here in this post that you are interested. For this you get your name added to the list once.
  • If you pimp the contest you will get your name added to the list a second time. If you do this, please include the link to your posting.
  • The contest will run from today 7/6/2016 through 11:59 pm (PST) on 7/13/2016.

I want to thank my readers, I appreciate every page read and every comment. Any questions about the blog or contest, feel free to send me an email.

A Cavalcade Of Griffey Cards XX

I decided to extend the Cavalcade series one more day, I had to finish on 20 posts so it was nice and neat closing.

Today’s card is the second card from my Most Wanted List that has made it in to the Cavalcade of Griffey Cards, the other one being the 2007 Topps Employee’s cards. The card is from the 2002 Upper Deck Authentics release and is the reverse negative parallel version. This is a card I have been hunting for over a couple of years even writing about missing out on one back in April 2014 but now my search is complete when I picked up both the base card and the reverse negative parallel for a reasonable price.

Tomorrow I will be back to my regular posts beginning with my 7th Blog-versary contest that I mentioned on my actual blog-versary last month.

Happy Birthday America!

In June of 1776 a committee of five politicians; John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Robert Livingston and Roger Sherman, were tasked with drafting a declaration of independence from the English. The War for Independence had been raging for over a year and the politicians felt it was time to officially separate from the Crown.

It took roughly 3 weeks to put together the document, which went through re-writes and revisions and on July 1st it was time for Congress to put the final draft on the table and get to voting. After a day of votes, arguments and speeches the Declaration of Independence was adopted on July 2, 1776 with twelve “Yea” votes and one abstention vote.

Over the next five months a total of 56 delegates signed the document with John Hancock signing first on July 4, 1776 when the final document was approved for printing. The final signature was Matthew Thornton on November 4, 1776. Additionally it is believed that the document that was signed and is currently on display in the National Archives is not the original document nor the only one to remain. The original document that was submitted to Congress in June 1776 was destroyed while it was being re-written and edited, it is also believed that there were up to 200 Declarations printed up and sent to politicians around the country with 26 copies still known to survive.

A Cavalcade Of Griffey Cards XIX

On what will most likely be my final cavalcade post, I am hoping to get back to normalcy soon, I wanted to go with something very special. Today’s card is a 2005 Upper Deck Dual Autograph with both Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr.
