Not Monday, But A Question Anyway

In 2019 Topps released both Topps Now and a complete set for the Alliance of American Football (AAF) before the league folded in April of 2019 and later filed for bankruptcy. This year Topps released both Topps Now and a complete set for the XFL, which also folded and filed bankruptcy. Now the XFL folding was not the league’s fault but no matter what it will end up costing Topps money, LCS and distributers too.

Is anyone else wondering if Topps will jump on board with a startup league, no matter what the sport, if the opportunity arises?

Ready For Some XFL?

It is official, there will be an XFL reboot and play starts in 2020. Some of the information released during Vince McMahon's announcement today is that there will be 8 teams of 40 players each and that the teams will be owned by the league.

McMahon also said that the league is about football, not about wrestling, politics or social issues. A couple of other points he made; the game will be family friendly, safer and faster (he wants games to last no more than 2 hours).

Return Of Xtreme Football?

The latest news from Vince McMahon is not wrestling related but appears to be a revival of the XFL.

A Deadspin reporter had contacted the WWE regarding rumors of the league and a WWE spokesman responded with “Vince McMahon has established and is personally funding a separate entity from WWE, Alpha Entertainment, to explore investment opportunities across the sports and entertainment landscape, including professional football. Mr. McMahon has nothing further to announce at this time.”

To add to the support of the rumor is the fact that WWE filed for two different XFL trademarks this year, well after the ESPN 30 for 30 XFL documentary in February, as well as trademarking “He Hate Me”.

How do you feel about an XFL reboot?
