In honor of the 2013 MLB All-Star Game at Citi Field in
Queens Nike has released two special All-Star edition shoes honoring Ken
Griffey Jr. and Bo Jackson. The shoes went on sale today at the 21 Mercer Nike
store in Queens. Surprisingly they did not release a Mets related shoe.
The Bo Jackson version, Nike Air Trainer SC High QS “MLB All-Star”
sneaker, is silver with black, white and blue highlights. Last year Nike
actually released a similar Bo Jackson shoe but in Raiders colors.
The Ken Griffey
Jr. version, Nike Air Griffey Max 1 PRM QS “MLB All-Star” sneaker, is tri-colored. The color
scheme is the same as the Jackson version but in a different style with the
addition of The Kid’s #24 on the straps and Swingman on the soles.
Both shoes have “icy
bottoms", with the Jackson version having a translucent blue ice-like bottom and
the Griffey version having a black ice-speckled bottom. Both shoes have NYC
tagging on the heel. Currently there is one auction for each pair. I am not a shoe guy but the Griffey shoes caught my attention, not that I would spend an insane amount on shoes but they are pretty cool.
