All That Is Left IV

Now that the Seahawks have won the big game 'Hawks fans like me are now coming back to Earth so it is time to find out what else was in those Championship repacked packs. In all I opened 38 packs (counting the Panini sticker pack and the OT packs) and I had some decent pulls. For the first time I actually pulled some relics and an autograph.

Let us find out “All that is left”.

A couple of rookies with a 2012 Prestige Richardson and a 2012 Upper Deck Mohamed Sanu 1993 SP variation. I always liked the early 1990s SP design, they were among my favorites of the decade.

A 2012 Topps Chrome Justin Blackmon 1965 Tall Boy variation
A Magician’s top hat worth of Topps Magic football:
A double dose of 2012 Magic rookies; Nick Foles and a RG3 mini

A double dose of 2013 Magic inserts/parallels; Sam Bradford short print black bordered mini and a Manti Te’o Rookie Enchantment (I really like these cards).

One of the repacks came with an advertised relic card along with some inserts and additional draft cards in penny sleeves floating in the box. The relic card I got was a 2006 Upper Deck Vernon Davis Rookie Futures jersey card.
A 2012 Absolute Kendall Wright Star Gazing jersey relic
A 2012 Strata Jeff Fuller Rookie autograph
I also pulled a variety of rookies and inserts, nothing special though. This year was my most satisfying break because I was fortunate enough to see my favorite team win the Super Bowl, I got my first hits out of a repack box and now the sports cards at 2-2 at predicting the Super Bowl.

Congratulations Seattle Seahawks!

I was off on the score but the same results in the end. There is major excitement in the Corky household tonight.

Congratulations Seattle Seahawks, Super Bowl XLVIII winners!

Sports Cards Super Bowl IV

Before I begin ripping any packs I wanted to say, I am a lifelong Seahawks fan and I couldn't be more thrilled to see them back in the big game (with a bit of stress over which Russell Wilson is going to show up). Of course I am rooting for them and hope they take home the Vince Lombardi Trophy. I am picking them to win, but lets see what the sports card say.

It is Super Bowl Sunday which means it is time for Sports Cards Super Bowl IV. I decided to pick up two Championship Football repack boxes this year to get a larger variety. I did pick up some additional 2013 products (Topps Magic and Panini Contenders) as OT packs in case of a tie or low score.

In total I will be opening 33 regular packs, 1 pack of 2012 Panini Football stickers and a number of Leaf Young Stars cards and inserts that were included in the boxes in penny sleeves. The packs range from 2010 through 2013 so I am hoping for a nice selection of current players. There are packs from Topps, Panini, Upper Deck, Leaf, SAGE and Press Pass. Since there are college packs I will include any players drafted by the Seahawks or Broncos.

This is the fourth year that I am doing Sports Cards Super Bowl and so far the cards are a disappointing 1-2 as a predictor. Here are the previous results:

The scoring system will remain similar to previous years but this year I decided to make some changes. Instead of separating rookies and veterans as two different scores I am just going to go with the same score (3 points) for any player in a Seahawks or Broncos uniform. I am also going to add in a Halftime to make tallying the score easier, this year it will be after the 16th pack.

This is the scoring system that I will use:

Extra Point (1 pt.)- For random cards that could be a sign or superstitious

Field Goal (3 pts.)- For any player from the Seahawks or Broncos

Touch Down (7 pts.)- For any Hall of Fame player from the Seahawks or Broncos (or if they are a HOF lock)

TD w/ 2pt Conversion (8 pts.)- For any autos or relics

Seattle Seahawks 30

After the Seahawks put up a couple of quick scores in the first half their offense goes lethargic while Peyton Manning and the Broncos heat up and come back strong in the third quarter before Seattle's Legion of Boom defense, led by Linebacker Bobby Wagner, shuts down Manning's air attack.
